What a great Merit Day in April. But May Merit Day is just around the corner. I want to get that information out to you soon because it will be a little different than in the past. The Discovery Rangers will have an overnight camping merit class!
Commander John Perrelli will be coming over from Outpost 64 (The Tab) to teach the Astronomy Merit. Along with his vast knowledge of the night skies, he will be bringing his telescopes for some nighttime sky watching.
Hopefully, we will be able to catch an up-close glimpse of some cool nighttime objects. So make a plan to come on out to see if we can find Saturn’s rings or Jupiter’s moons. We will also be setting up a model campsite and be learning about Gods word in the process. This will all begin about 6 o’clock on Friday, May 11th and we should be ready to pick up by 8 Saturday Morning.
Then on Saturday (May 12) From about 8AM to 3PM, the Adventure Rangers will be holding their Merit Camp. This camp will be studying two of the major prophets in the Old Testament and learning about Global Missions.
The Global Missions Merit is a required AR merit for the Gold Medal of Achievement and is only taught once every three years, so it is vital that you are at this merit camp or make arrangments to make up the merit with Mr. Glose, or Mr. Hardy. Plus you will not want to miss our special guest fresh off his mission to Guatemala where he helped spread God’s word.
So get ready – and mark your calendars early. As always, your leaders are planning and have a load of fun adventure scheduled for you this month. Ask your leaders for permission slips this week – See you all there.
