Well, Day 2 is in the books. Yesterday the boys learned to come together a little bit as a team.
Many of the campers were challenged to do things that they had not done before. The boys had to figure out how to do things like being on time, keeping track of their own schedules, and working together. Being responsible for their own organization.
Turning into a leader is not an overnight process. It’s a growing process that is best learned by doing and struggling.
I’m paraphrasing here, but I’ve heard it said that the most significant growth comes through failure. And if that’s true, some of these boys have an opportunity to really grow this week.
But aside from the failure, I’m also seeing that personal growth we are here for. I have seen the boys come together and learn they must work together as a team. They have to organize their own gear.
They are learning things like delegation, time management, and developing short and long-term goals that are relevant to what they’re doing.
We’re seeing the boys think ahead a little bit instead of always in the current moment. Here are a few more photos from Monday, and I hope to be back tomorrow with another update.
As always, look for all the photos on our 2023 JLDA Photos page.
