I am excited for a few reasons. As we head into the holiday season, we realize Christmas is almost upon us. If you are anything like me, no matter what you said last year, you did not lose twenty pounds, you did not swear off pro football, and you most definitely did not start shopping early this year.
In the way of confessions – there you have it. My belt is still on the third notch, I still watch the Vikings when they are on (I know, it’s the Bills for most of you), and I still have ALL my shopping to do.
This brings the question – why am I excited? That’s easy – It’s hope. Hope for a lot of things. Aside from all those resolutions I keep making, there is the hope of the new year. We have hope and even confidence in celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, and the knowledge of His everlasting promises of peace and hope.
If your Royal Rangers group is like most, this is a time to seek opportunities to share the gospel. If you are unsure where or how, contact your pastor or a staff member. I am sure they can get you started.
Regarding upcoming events for Royal Rangers, aside from the New Year Lazer Tron Party, January usually is usually a bit of downtime for most outposts. The regular meetings will still be in full swing. We are generally getting ready for the Kolndike Run and a Spring push.
I know that OP 292 in West Seneca will be working hard in January to build their Ranger Derby cars. The OP292 Ranger Derby is on Saturday, February 3rd. If you are not busy, stop by Fellowship Wesleyan Church that day and check out the races, get a slice of Pizza, and support that event.
A couple more dates to remember are the Klondike Run Campout on February 16-18th and the Western Division Ranger Kids Family Day on May 25th. More details on these events will be coming soon.
